Meet Collin Lowry, our local MMA Honoree for the
14th Annual Swingin' for Safety Golf Tournament:
Collin is a happy 4 year boy who was diagnosed with methylmalonic acidemia (MMA) through newborn screening (NBS) at 5 days old.
He is treated by a wonderful metabolic team with Hayward Genetics Center at Tulane Hospital and Clinic in New Orleans.
Early diagnosis and treatment has allowed Collin to live the life like that of any other child his age, with the exception of his diet restrictions. Collin is on a restricted protein diet which includes a synthetic protein supplement, Propimex 1. He’s not allowed to have food high in protein such as meats and most dairy. He is not much of an eater, but he loves French fries, popcorn, biscuits, potato chips and hash browns.
Collin loves to swim, watch Disney Junior and play with his trucks and trains. He’s a blessing from God full of life and energy.
